DSWA Recycling: (MBA properties are on the BLUE schedule-wk 2) |

Current Middlesex Beach Association Restrictive Covenants state, in section 11 (Sanitation):
"Suitable trash enclosures must be installed at roadside property lines and shall be the exclusive trash collection site on the property. " A question, of course, is what is "suitable"? In the Spring of 2008, the Board discussed this issue, and determined that a general definition is: “Sufficient to Contain and Conceal the trash generated between normally scheduled pickups.” As general guidelines, consider the following: 1) All properties shall have a trash can enclosure at the front property line adjacent the road. (note: there are some property owners who take all their trash "back home" after staying in Middlesex Beach. If you do NOT EVER put out trash for pickup by the MBA's contracted trash hauler, you do NOT need to have such an enclosure) 2) Each property shall have a sufficient number of trash containers to contain the trash produced between regularly scheduled pickups. 3) All trash recepticals shall be provided with tight fitting lids. 4) At least three sidewalls of the enclosure shall be at least 90% as high as the recepticals. 5) Each sidewall may have no more than 20% open area. 6) If DSWA recycling is used, the enclosure shall be large enough to also accommodate the recycling bins/bags. Annual Trash Pickup Each spring, the MBA schedules the bulk pickup of brush and bulk items. Since it's by far the most effective way to get rid of yard debris, once a year members are allowed to pile brush by the roadside, and the Association contracts with a local landscaper to chip the debris. This pickup does NOT include piles of leaves or pine needles, because these can easily be placed in regular trash cans or bags. This pickup also does NOT include limbs or logs larger than 4" in diameter. Our Property Manager will arrange for disposal of these items at additional cost to the property owner. After major storms, the Association will frequently schedule a brush pickup; these will be announced on our website. If brush is piled at the roadside at other times of year, our Property Manager will arrange for disposal of these items at additional cost to the property owner, unless you inform them that you have made alternate arrangements, and you follow through with these arrangements. Additionally each spring, our trash hauler (Allied) picks up bulk trash items from throughout the community. Note that they do NOT take construction debris or hazardous materials. Our Property Manager will arrange for disposal of these items at additional cost to the property owner, unless you inform them that you have made alternate arrangements, and you follow through with these arrangements. At other times of year, any trash not placed in appropriate containers will be removed by our Property Manager, and the property owner will be billed for the cost of this service, unless you inform them that you have made alternate arrangements, and you follow through with these arrangements. Generally, we have found that Allied will take pretty much anything that you manage to put into a trash can throughout the year. |
