  • Delmarva Power wiring work at the west end of Errett Road will take place starting May 10
As the final stage of the substation maintenance work that has been ongoing for almost the last month. Delmarva Power will be reconfiguring some of the wiring at the west end of Errett Road this week.

The 69kV circuit running down Errett Road will no longer terminate at a transformer adjacent #2 Errett Road, but will instead terminate at a newly installed transformer on the WEST side of Kent Ave.

This transformer is the loudest piece of equipment at the site, so its replacement with a newer unit on the other side of the street should noticeably reduce the noise.

The lower voltage distribution circuit will be slightly reconfigured at the end of the street. Several Delmarva Power crews, and some power interruptions, should be expected this week along Errett Road.
In the lower photo, it seems that the new distribution pole at the left will replace the 2 poles next to it.

The new pole has cross arms pointing in the same directions as those on the older poles: one pointing to the inside of the substation, one pointing towards the pole between #1 and #3 Errett, and one pointing towards the circuit that runs along Kent Avenue and provides power to Sea Colony West (and points beyond).
Delmarva Power is planning to finish the new wiring, and fully energize the new circuit, long before Memorial Day. By our reckoning, this is the most major maintenance work that has been done at the substation in at least 15 years, a time which has seen incredible growth in the Bethany (and entire coastal) area.
