  • Highway Gate Criteria
  • keep appearance similar to existing fence
  • metal posts, sunk into concrete; physically separate from fence; possibly encased in 5/4 board for appearance
  • lightweight gate - excessive spring force not needed to keep closed
    Framework made of metal piping with 5/4 board as facing?
    Some way for wind to blow thru
  • install just east of existing fence line? OR
  • widen existing fence openings for new structure (gate and dedicated posts)?
  • consider making them handicapped width (not just a 36" opening, but an opening through which one could push a 36" wheelchair without the huge gate getting in the way)
  • Framework made of metal piping with 5/4 board as facing?
  • investigate enhanced (remotely controllable/monitorable) locking system?
  • consider something on top of each opening to make it difficult to climb
    (I like combo of lattice and rose bushes)
  • determine whether any grade alterations are necessary (raising gate high enough for paver stones?);
    Height adjustments also to adjacent fencing?
    (Paver stone walkway from MBA pavement to the gate; maybe also a "landing" on the highway side)
  • recommend any adjacent shrubbery removal so the rose bushes get sunlight
