Report to MIDDLESEXBEACH ASSOCIATION Members
From Public Works Committee (PWC) |
|
A small group of MBA members have volunteered to participate in the public works committee, coordinate its activities and oversee use of its allocated budget.
The following highlights the current status of the PWC: The PWC is responsible for monitoring and approving Public Works budget spending with appropriate MBA Board approval. The tasks of the PWC include maintaining and improving the common grounds of Middlesex Beach (MB) such as its private roads, parking areas, rights of way and fences. Chuck Taylor is the liaison between the MBA Board and the PWC. The Wilgus Management Company (i.e., Tim Hill; phone number 302-539-7511; e-mail address wilguspmgt@splus.net) is the primary focal point for PWC tasks and action items; responsible for arranging for specific tasks to be performed by Wilgus workers on an hourly basis; responsible for obtaining bids from contractors when needed and responsible for assuring the timelines and quality of contracted work. Dan Lyons is the primary contact between the PWC and Wilgus (Tim Hill). Joe Wolf, the Director of Public Works for 12 years, who fulfilled the PWC goals almost single-handedly during this period, will continue to be a consultant to the PWC. Dan Lyons, Bob Mason, Jim Moul, Wally Wiesch and Dennis Branstad have volunteered to participate on the PWC. The current budget for the PWC is $76,000 per year (specific line items are noted in the annual budget description). Laborers range from $20-$30 per hour; professionals range from $50-$75 per hour. The annual MBA membership fee has been minimized in the past because volunteers have done much of the cleaning and repairs of common property. Membership fees can be minimized in the future by the following examples: All members picking up trash that has been dropped on the beaches and roads and putting it in trash containers or taking it home for trash pickup; each household volunteering to perform a PWC task each year. Suggestions for improving common areas and increasing volunteer participation should be submitted to the PWC before September 1st and May 1st each year . Last update: 9/16/01. |
