  • Beachside Drainage
    General Description
Due to it being significantly higher than the pineside (Dune Road is between 10-11' above sea level; pineside streets are as low as 3' above sea level), the beachside is not typically seen as having a drainage problem.

It does have occasional problems with standing water after even short rainstorms, both at spots along Dune Road, and at the low spots near highway gates.

Most of this problem has been ameliorated with the recent (Fall 2009) work at the gateways; swales were created adjacent each edge of the street, and this water drains away to the highway shoulder much quicker than before.

Water used to collect at the speed hump at Dune and E. Errett, which caused deterioration of the road surface. This has been partially addressed by some regrading adjacent the speed hump, and

Water also collects at several low spots along Dune Road in the middle of blocks (particularly between E. Errett and E. Bayberry). The solution of digging swales to dump this water onto individual properties is not a reasonable solution.
