The first in-ground cleanout of the community's drainage project is pictured below. Several pictures, because we were really proud of it when we built it in August 2005, and we wanted to make sure it would hold significant weight. This box was placed in the ground at the very west end of the formerly-open ditch on the north side of Addy Road. The existing concrete culvert running under Pine Road was left in place; the bottom of its opening is at an elevation of 1.25'. The bottom of this box is about 2" below the bottom of the Pine Road culvert. New PVC culvert pipe feeds water from along the north side of Addy Road into this culvert. The removable two-part top grate allows leaves and other debris to be removed from the system. During times of extremely heavy rainfall, standing water does surround this grate, and on rare occasions it does float. In the future, this box is intended to have an additional hole cut in the south side, and can receive a new buried pipe extending from the ditch along the south side of Addy Road. (As originally designed, the south Addy ditch turns south, and runs an additional 280' to meet up with the ditch along Evergreen Road.) If absolutely necessary, this box can be retrofitted with a coffer dam and pump. | |
